The next major priority for the organising committee is selecting a board, registering as a company limited by guarantee, and then applying to become a registered charity.

This is a complicated process and one we absolutely have to get right. It is really important to everyone on the organising committee that you can trust Migraine Australia, which means we care a lot about proper governance.

We are currently putting out feelers for people to join the board. We are hoping to have a board of people from diverse backgrounds, some doctors, some because they know how to run charities or have other expertise, and we are hoping all have some lived experience of migraine (either themselves or someone close to them).

The organising committee will become an advisory committee, with a one person representing the committee on the board.

There are some costs around registering as a company and a charity, which we are currently looking for a donor to cover. The committee decided not to start a crowdfunding campaign or another other push for donations until after we are registered as a charity, so you can have confidence your money will be properly used and your donation will be tax deductible.

If you or someone you know is interested in joining the board, please get in touch with Raphaella to discuss.
